Meet Our Team

Paul Granville - Senior Partner 

     

Paul Granville was born in Cornwall in 1960.  After graduating from Reading University and completing his Law Society finals he served his articles at Carlyon & Son.  Paul became an assistant solicitor at Carlyon & Son in 1984 and a Partner in 1987 before becoming senior Partner in 1996. 

Paul’s special interests are Probate, Tax, Commercial Business Transactions, Personal Injury Litigation and Family and Divorce matters.  For a number of years he served on the Law Society personal injury panel.  He has also in the past acted as Assistant Deputy Coroner.

Paul is married to Julie and has two adult children. He has assisted various charitable organisations over the years. In such spare time as he has, he has been known to enjoy the occasional glass of red wine, socialising and swimming.

Katrina Nicholls (nee Granville) - Partner
       

             

    


Katrina was born in Truro and is a former pupil of Richard Lander School in Truro and Truro College. Katrina went to the University of the West of England in Bristol to read law and to obtain her Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Katrina joined Carlyon & Son with John Rabey & Co in 2006 and qualified as a solicitor in 2011.

Katrina works within the Property and Probate teams. 

Katrina works within the Conveyancing Team and specialises in sales, purchases, re-mortgages, transfers of equity and shared ownership purchases/sales for residential properties together with commercial property transactions.

Katrina also specialises in Private Client and Wills and Probate matters and deals with all aspects of Will drafting, estate administration and Lasting Powers of Attorney. 

Outside of work, Katrina is an active member of the Cornwall Junior Lawyers Division and enjoys reading, travelling and socialising with friends and family. Katrina is also newly married to her lovely husband Richard and is the very proud Auntie of her fabulous nephew Jaxx!

Jo Beard - Conveyancing Executive 
 

            Jo was born in Truro and attended Penweathers School before continuing her legal executive education at night school. Jo has lived in Cornwall all her life and worked at several Cornish solicitors firms before joining Carlyon & Son with John Rabey & Co in 2003.

Jo is a Conveyancing specialist and deals with residential conveyancing and Tenancy Agreements. Jo also drafts Wills. 

Outside of the office, Jo enjoys keeping fit and salsa. Jo also supports local charities through fundraising and volunteer work.

    Emma Tremayne - Office Manager

             

Emma was born in Sussex and moved to West Cornwall in 1985 where she attended Cape Cornwall School.


Emma has been working at Carlyon & Son with John Rabey & Co since 1994 and is our office and accounts manager.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time with her two daughters and her one-eyed cat! Emma is the chair of the Friends of Duchy Ballet and spends considerable amounts of her time watching her daughters dance and working with the ballet company to fund and stage their ballet productions at the Hall for Cornwall each March.
